To end the tour we will be visiting a local rice field where you will discover the several phases of the rice production and enjoy the local's homes some fruits and well deserved rest.

Khlong Maha Sawat:

Regarded as one of the oldest khlongs in Thailand, because it was canalized since the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV) to be a shortcut to travel to worship Phra Pathom Chedi. At present, Khlong Maha Sawat is well-known as an agritourism destination. Villagers on both sides still maintain the traditional way of life, they still use natural water to bathe, drink and use as the main route for traffic.

Cruise by the long-tail boat to see the scenery and agricultural gardens throughout the route. And participate in collecting lotus or visit the fruit garden of locals to watch the orchard and mixed farming with seasonal fruits.

Lotus Field:

Lotus flowers form an important part in Buddhist worship and the myriad of temples throughout the greater Bangkok region rely on local producers to meet their daily requirements.

This pond is huge, covering five acres and has a nice sala –funded by the government for the promotion of tourism in this area – where you can sit surrounded by thousands of water lilies.

They harvest 3000 flowers on alternate days using a flat-bottomed aluminium boat. The other day they harvest the leaves which are used for wrapping the flowers ready for the market. The stalks are just broken off by hand – not cut – and they are quite prickly so gloves are in order.

Orchid Farm:

Orchid Farm. Orchids are beautiful, but difficult to grow. Here you can talk to the owner –through the guide if need be – to find special tips about how to get them to flower and keep them flowering. Here you can buy orchids to take home and generally the prices are a lot cheaper than you’ll find elsewhere.
