What to do in Koh Yao Yai?

Updated: Dec 16, 2019

Being a small and peaceful island away from the big crowds, Koh Yao Yai still was a few things to explore. But the best to do? Relax on white sandy beaches with coconuts trees to shade you from the sun or take a day trip and explore all islands around. #ourmagicalthailand

Best advice, rent a scooter and explore a bit.

The normal cost of renting a scooter varies around 200 - 300 THB per day and you can find renting scooters shops everywhere. Normally they don't come with gasoline included, but as easy as it is to find a place to rent a scooter it's also to find a shop with gasoline bottles (from 35 - 50 THB litter) for you to fill up your tank and start the discovery. And if you have kids or are just not that comfortable riding a scooter, you can also find scooters with sidecars and even with a small side passengers car to take your kids in safety.

After that is done, start to explore.

Visit the marvellous Laem Had beach, where the movie "The Mechanic" was made and enjoy the white sandy beach or walk on water in the fantastic Sand Bank. Visit the fishing villages and markets. Learn the ancient art of Batik painting at Batik the KoYao and enjoy lunch or dinner at the island number one restaurant - Ban Rim Nam, where the local food is delicious and the prices are in everyone's reach.

Since you are already in paradise, make sure that you don't get stuck in the hotel all day and explore the surrounding islands. The Island Hopping Tour is a perfect way to discover the most magical beaches and lagoons. Enjoy time snorkelling with a wide range of beautiful fishes and seeing the swimming monkeys at Rai Island. All of those are things that you don't want to miss while enjoying your stay in the magical Koh Yao Yai island.

These are the various tours that you can do from Koh Yao Yai, and every single one of it is exclusive and magical in its own way.

Enjoy the day, relax in the evening!
